AARP offers local and state presentations, smart drivers course

AARP offers a variety of local programs for seniors, including those offered both by the state organization and the local chapter.

State presentations:
Medicare Basics: August 11, 12 p.m., at Senior Circle
Aging In Place: September 13, 2 p.m., at Senior Circle

Local chapter activities:
General meetings: Meetings are held the third Wednesday each month (except July and August), at 2 p.m., at Senior Circle. The September 21 meeting will be a potluck lunch with smoked shredded pork supplied. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish and some canned or dry foods to give to those who have less.

Fraud Workshop: August 12, 2 p.m., at Senior Circle

Information Table: August 15, 10 a.m. – noon at Senior Circle

There will not be an information table at the Farmers and Crafts Market in August. The September Farmers Market table will be on September 10. This is normally on every first Saturday of the month.

Smart Drivers Courses:
This four-hour class is $15 for AARP members, $20 for non-members. For courses at Good Samaritan, call Ernie at 642-2582 to reserve a spot. For courses at Senior Circle, call Alejandra at 522-0502.

Good Samaritan is located at 3011 Buena Vida Circle off Telshor near Memorial Medical Center. Senior Circle is located behind the Walgreens at Roadrunner and Lohman.
