Music is the language of love, so why not use it to make this Valentine’s Day extra special for your loved one? If you’re not up to doing the serenading yourself, the Cactus Chords Quartet, a group of four men singing a cappella in the classic Barbershop style, is available to perform for your valentine on either Saturday, February 13, or Sunday, February 14. For only $30, the quartet will perform three songs and present a rose to your beloved at home, a restaurant, or even surprise your valentine at work!
The group has been singing together for the last eight years, but they have experience beyond that singing in other quartets and choruses. They’ve won gold medals at the Doña Ana County Senior Games each year they entered.
The Cactus Chords Quartet is also available to perform at other events throughout the year, with the price negotiable based on the event. A full performance is 30 to 45 minutes and includes the usual barbershop elements of a cappella music (without accompaniment), patter, and some corny jokes. They perform for local senior facilities, special events, and, says baritone Chuck Riggs, “Most of the songs we sing are old, barbershop arrangements, with an occasional newer song. We’ve agreed to sing just about anywhere, except for a bris, but only because we’ve not been asked.” However, they have performed sacred music at local churches.
To schedule your private (or maybe not so private) performance, call Riggs at 521-1729.
