September 3, 9 to 10 a.m. Paul O’Connell: “How Trump got elected”
J.D. Vance’s book “Hillbilly Elegy” discusses why rural America and the Rust Belt were so frustrated with politics in 2016. Using this book as a resource, O’Connell will explain how this frustration led in large part to Trump getting elected.

The Ministerial Search Committee has a “Beyond Categorical Thinking” service and workshop scheduled for both services. Please attend one of these special services.

September 17, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.Carol “Callie” Weston: “What is Going on in Israel/Palestine? Why Does it Matter to Us?”
In May 2017, Callie Weston travelled with an Interfaith Peace Builders delegation to Israel/Palestine, meeting with groups and individuals in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ramallah, Hebron and Bethlehem as well as other areas. She will describe what is happening on the ground through stories and pictures and discuss how this relates to our lives on our border. Callie lives in El Paso and is an active member of CIVIC (Community Initiatives for Visiting Immigrants in Confinement) and the DMSC (Detained Migrant Solidarity Committee).
