The Young at Heart Chorus will present a free program at the Good Samaritan Auditorium, 3011 Buena Vida Circle at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14. The one-hour choral program will feature songs of patriotism, the WW II years and similar themes to honor our veterans. The performance is open to the public without charge.
Young at Heart entertains residents of assisted living and nursing homes in the Las Cruces area and has been in continuous operation since 1972, with the name of the group, the director, piano accompanist and venues changing through the years. Currently there are about 25 members, who practice two or three times and sing at four facilities each month. Music changes monthly, selected from a large collection of old songs, generally favorites of the audience and the chorus. Programs are enhanced by varying the themes and by highlighting the talents of individual members with vocal solos or duets, group harmony, and instrumental accompaniment.
